In 1997 Marcel Florax bought the practice from Robert Knowles, a retiring veterinary colleague, and under this new leadership it soon outgrew the old premises in the village.
The solution came in the form of a mid - 1800s 3,500 square-foot Norfolk barn, situated on the outskirts of the village, which required a lot of reconstruction and renovation. Marcel was completely involved in the sympathetic renovation work and every detail of the outlay and practical design of the surgery.
In the millenium year of 2000, the doors were opened to the newly named ‘Anchorage Barn Veterinary Clinic’ which later received a prestigious award in hospital design from the Veterinary Economics magazine.
For the last 12 years the practice has been a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons accredited practice and undergoes regular inspections of standards laid out by the RCVS Practice Standard Scheme.
